I am an American girl, currently living and working in Spain as a Language and Culture Assistant.
This is my 4th time returning to Spain.
The love affair began in 2003, when a group of students from my high school took a 10-day tour of Madrid and the south coast of Spain. So naturally, when I had the chance to study abroad in Spain during college, I jumped at the chance. I spent the fall semester of 2007 studying Spanish in Sevilla. After that semester, I decided to make Spanish a second major, and, finding myself in need of more Spanish credits, sought out another opportunity to return to Spain. I did an internship in Toledo during the summer of 2009. I was totally enchanted by the beautiful city of Toledo, and I decided to spend my first year as an auxiliar there. It was an amazing year, and I'm pretty sure I left a part of my heart somewhere in those labyrinthine streets. When I decided to renew my position as an auxiliar, though, I decided to trade in the quaint for a bigger city...which brings us to where we are now -- In the heart of Sevilla (again). Though I've spent a fair share of time here, I realize that I still have a lot to learn about the culture, the language, and the people of Spain.
My intentions for this blog are as follows:
1. I want to keep my friends and family back in Pittsburgh updated on what's going on with my life. 2. I want to keep a record of these exciting times, so I can read them when I'm old and reminisce about the good ol' days. 3. I sometimes need an outlet to complain about cultural frustrations. And 4. I want to be able to share my small triumphs and successes with the rest of the world.
I'm glad you've found my blog, whoever you are, wherever you may be. I hope you find some enjoyment in it, and who knows, maybe I can share some useful knowledge with you as well.
Leave comments! Share your blog with me! Tell your friends! We'll have a good time. :)
